The kitchen can be one of the busiest rooms in your home compared to others. This is because it is an important spot for food preparation and many people can access it. Food preparation can involve a lot of dirt accumulation if not adequately cleaned like grease, food spills and in some cases, soot.

However, aside from all other kitchen chores like cleaning kitchen appliances, surface wiping and floor mopping that need to be done daily, there are some spots that people tend to forget quickly. This article explains these areas that require regular cleaning to prevent bacteria manifestation.

How to Clean Your Kitchen Step By Step

Following these step by step, you can quickly clean the spots that are easily forgotten;

1.   Clean kitchen lighting

Your kitchen pendant light is bound to get visible dust if not wiped properly hence polishing is required through the steps below;

      a. For recessed lighting, start by turning off the electricity.

      b. Carefully remove the bulb and wipe the interior of the recessed area using a damp cloth.

      c. Take the bulbs and wipe them down, dry with a microfiber cloth then place them back carefully.

2.   Clean  kitchen ceiling

When you cook, grease can splatter from your pan to the roof and the walls leaving colored splotches. Therefore;

4.   Clean kitchen sink

If you have a stainless steel kitchen sink;

      a. Using a gentle soap, warm water, and a soft cloth, clean the faucets drain and the outer rim of the sink.

      b. Boil water and run it down the sink to remove anything that may clog the sink.

      c. Make a mixture of 1 teaspoon of baking soda and a quarter cup of lemon juice. Pour the mixture on the sink surface, follow it with a half cup of white vinegar and let it stand for 10 minutes and scrub with a brush.

      d. For buffing, completely dry the sink with a towel, sprinkle flour around the sink and slowly buff the steel in a circular motion.

5.    Clean kitchen cabinets and counters

From splashes from the pan and greasy fingerprints, cabinets can quickly get dirty.

      a. Mix warm water and soap in a basin. Soak a clean cloth in the water.

      b. Ring out excess water from the fabric and wipe the exterior cabinet doors and counters starting from top to bottom. Use a microfiber cloth to dry and buff the surfaces adequately.

      c. For the interior parts, empty the cupboard put the mixture in a spray bottle and wipes the covers with a microfiber cloth. Place everything back when it is dry and clean.
